Bond and moisture treatment

The in-salon treatment that goes on damp and gets combed through section by section, for hair that has been lifted, heat-styled or swum in all summer.

Two different problems get confused constantly. Bond repair is for hair that has been chemically stressed, usually by lightening; moisture is for hair that is dry, dull and rough to the touch. We work out which one you actually have, then apply it damp and comb it through in sections so every strand gets the same amount, rather than dumping it on the top layer. It sits under heat for the time it needs and gets rinsed cool. On the right hair it buys back real strength; on hair that just needs a trim it will not, and we will say that.

$55 as an add-on to a cut or colour, $85 for the full bond course applied on its own, up to $120 for long, dense or heavily lightened hair that needs a double application.

Step by step, in this order

How many treatments will I need?

For heat and sun damage, usually two or three across a couple of months. For hair that has been lightened hard, plan on one with every colour visit for about six months.

Is this the same as a smoothing treatment?

No. This repairs and hydrates but does not change how your hair behaves in humidity. If your problem is swelling and frizz rather than dryness, the humidity smoothing treatment is the one you want.

Will it make my hair greasy?

Not if the right one is chosen. If your roots go flat quickly we keep the moisture treatment off the scalp and work from mid-lengths down.
