Humidity smoothing treatment
A smoothing service sized to your hair and to a Brisbane summer, aimed at less swelling and a faster blow-dry rather than poker straight.
This is the service the whole salon is named around. A smoothing treatment coats the hair so it takes on less moisture from the air, which is why hair swells and goes rough in the first place. We do not sell the poker straight version, because it grows out with a hard line and it is not what most people actually want. We aim for a hair that keeps its own shape, dries in half the time, and stops changing size between the front door and the office. It lasts around three to four months on most people and fades out rather than cutting off. Fine hair takes it beautifully; very short hair usually does not need it.

Priced on length, density and how much of the last treatment is still in. Shoulder length and fine usually lands at $290 to $360; long, thick or previously lightened hair runs up to $580. You get the number in writing before we start.

02How it runs
Step by step, in this order
Typical time: 2.5 to 4 hours. You are told which step you are on.
- 01 Strand test and choose the strength for your hair
- 02 Clarify to strip product and hard-water minerals
- 03 Apply in fine sections and comb through evenly
- 04 Blow-dry and seal each section under controlled heat
- 05 Book the two week check before you leave
How long does it actually last in Brisbane?
Three to four months for most people, less if you swim in chlorine or wash daily with a clarifying shampoo. It fades gradually, so there is no hard regrowth line.
Will my hair be dead straight?
Not the way we do it. You keep your wave and your volume, you just lose the swelling. If you want dead straight, say so at the consultation and we will tell you honestly whether your hair will take it.
Can I wash it that night?
No. Leave it 48 hours, then use a sulphate-free wash. We write the routine down for you and it takes about a minute to read.
